Community Solar Subscribers help support Capital Roots with $50 donation

TROY, NY – US Light Energy, a leading New York solar energy company specializing in the development of solar electric and community solar systems, joined Capital Roots today along with local and state representatives, advocates, and supporters at Capital Roots’ headquarters in Troy, NY to celebrate the launch of the new Veggie Mobile with a solar powered battery storage system designed, installed, and donated by U.S. Light Energy. U.S. Light Energy is also thrilled to announce an exciting new Community Solar partnership program with Capital Roots. Beginning today, anyone that subscribes to a U.S. Light Energy Community Solar project using the promo code: CAPITALROOTS will generate a $50 donation to Capital Roots from U.S. Light Energy.

Subscribers to U.S. Light Energy’s Community Solar Program will receive credits for electricity generated at Sugar Hill Solar Farm in Clifton Park and others, credited to subscribers’ bills anywhere in National Grid’s territory, without the need to install any equipment at the customers’ location. Subscribers are guaranteed to save 10 percent on their renewable electricity credits purchases. Both residential and commercial customers are eligible to subscribe. There are no long-term contracts to sign, and by entering the promo code: CAPITAL ROOTS on our subscription page, U.S. Light Energy will donate $50 per subscriber to Capital Roots’ ongoing efforts with the Veggie Mobile and other community projects.

More about the Veggie Mobile from Capital Roots: The Veggie Mobile was founded in 2007, the start of Capital Roots next wave of programming to make fresh food access a reality in our region’s urban centers. Many thought the idea was crazy. “No one will wait in line to buy produce,” folks told us, but on that very first stop in 2007 there was a line of people waiting to purchase that fresh food. They now had this new opportunity to feed themselves and their family well. The momentum only grew from there. The number of stops continued to grow over the years. And in 2011 we put the market’s little sister, the Veggie Mobile Sprout, on the road to extend our reach to even smaller neighborhood locations. Today there are 37 stops total across Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Troy, Watervliet, Cohoes, and Mechanicville. And there are dozens more examples of mobile markets across the country now, modeled off our successful model.

Mark Richardson, CEO of U.S. Light Energy said “Capital Roots’ mission has long been one of the most important local efforts to improve our health, our communities, and our environment. We are so very proud that we were able to participate in the next phase of the Capital Roots Veggie Mobile project.”
